Hermann Nitsch – Weinviertel Sinfonie (Trost, CD/digital)

A new release by Hermann Nitsch is always welcome, but this one comes with a grain of salt: »Weinviertel Sinfonie« is the first posthumous release by the great iconoclast, dedicated to the landscape of his adopted home of Lower Austria. The six movements, recorded by members of the RSO Wien, are accordingly of a bucolic, at times impressionistic tenderness. A bittersweet, (presumably) last sign of life from a great composer.
