Silvia Tarozzi and Deborah Walker – Canti di guerra, di lavoro e d'amore (Unseen Worlds, CD/digital)

There is more than »Bella Ciao« out there, so much more! Silvia Tarozzi and Deborah Walker’s »Canti di guerra, di lavoro e d'amore«—songs of war, work and love—take traditional folk songs sung by women in the rice fields of northern Italy as the starting point for twelve pieces on which the duo combines its dual interest in contemporary composed music and free improvisation. The result is a stylistically rich, emotionally trying and artistically stringent album. One of this year's best, really.
