Stefanovich, Dell, Lillinger, Westergaard – SDLW (bastille musique, CD/digital)

The Berlin label bastille musique relies on a reduced and classical aesthetic in visual terms, but underneath the artwork, which seems generic at first glance, an incomparable musical diversity regularly awaits the listeners. The title »SDLW« is a similar understatement, but the music by Tamara Stefanovich (piano), Christopher Dell (vibraphone), Christian Lillinger (drums/percussion) and Jonas Westergaard (double bass) is just as rich: contemporary music meets echo effects of avant-garde traditions, all of which is elegantly transferred into jazzy grooves and presented with improvisational verve. In short, this music is as opulent as the comprehensive bilingual booklet, which is also hidden under the plain cover.
