Jan Jelinek – The Raw and the Cooked (Faitiche, LP/digital)

In »Le Cru et le Cuit,« the structuralist anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss analysed myths of the Indigenous population of the Americas with a focus on their underlying oppositions. For a radio play for the German broadcaster SWR2, the Berlin artist Jan Jelinek took up this idea and transferred it to sound. For example, he recorded the artist duo Thomas and Renée Rapedius making objects out of paper and metal and processed this material transformation process even further on a sonic level. »The Raw and the Cooked« thus represents a dynamic study of the materiality, but also the mutability of sound.
