Paula Schopf – Espacios en Soledad (Karaoke Kalk, LP/digital)

With »Espacios en Soledad,« Berlin-based sound artist Paula Schopf processes a personal story along with its political implications: the 16-minute piece is based on field recordings from her hometown of Santiago de Chile, which she left first as a child after the American-led coup in the 1970s and later again for Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The (re)appropriation of this city is accordingly subjective, but implicitly makes statements about the migrant experience.
