Darja Kazimira – Medea Forgives Jason (Cyclic Law, CD/digital)

From Euripides to Christa Wolf and contemporary adaptations for the theatre, the Medea myth has been subjected to radical reinterpretations again and again. For »Medea Forgives Jason«, vocalist Darja Kazimira juxtaposes the opposition of physical and metaphysical violence contained therein, and places it at the centre of her thinking. She underlines the dichotomy of the tangible and the intangible also on a musical, especially on a vocal level: her performance, schooled in various traditions of ritualistic and folkloristic music, is at the same time physically powerful and seems to have an inherent degree of abstraction.
