Shelley Hirsch & Joke Lanz | Ambient Rage

at KM28

SHELLEY HIRSCH is "an unorthodox extraordinary fusion of vocalist, composer and performance artist" (Anne LeBaron) whose work encompasses storytelling pieces, staged performances, compositions, improvisations, collaborations, installations, and radio plays, which have been presented on five continents. "A woman of a thousand voices… She offers an enthralling demonstration of the way songs, vocal styles and language might have evolved out of more primal musical impulses." New York Times.
Turntablist JOKE LANZ creates autonomous sound cells that melt into a language free of any function. He combines ritual reductionism with anarchistic playfulness, atmospheric soundscapes with cut-up noise and physicalness with unpredictability. Best known for his international acclaimed Noise project Sudden Infant, Joke Lanz has been presenting his work for 30 years all over the world. Born in Switzerland and currently operating out of Berlin, he is one of the most prolific and profound artists working in the border zones where performance and body art meet Improvisation and Noise.
AMBIENT RAGE is the project of Wouter Jaspers, an electro-acoustic composer, field recordist, and synth designer making use of his tour schedule to amass a noise archive where the narrative qualities of sound become catalysts for dark ambient chasms and ear-splitting adventures. Jaspers performs under his own name, but also as Franz Fjödor, Das Gezicht, A Cryptic Mantra, Cock Cobra, Ambient Rage and others.
