Berlin Bricolage Ensemble

von und mit Jonas Schoen-Philbert

The Berlin Bricolage Ensemble is a chamber orchestra which consists of musicians with very different musical backgrounds, ranging from Classical Music and Jazz to Contemporary Music. Because of this musical diversity, the ensemble moves artistically between the worlds - on the border of modern Classical Music and New Music. Lead by the Jazz-saxophone player Jonas Schoen-Philbert, this formation understands itself as a creative field of artistic freedom, and as an opportunity to break up the familiar and reconstruct it through improvisation on the theoretical basis of the cultural technique „Bricolage“. As a result, existing patterns are being fragmented and recontextualized with the musical liberties of Jazz to create something utterly new.

You can not merely describe Jonas Schoen-Philbert as a „musician“ - He is also composer, arranger, professor, founder of a label, and conductor, which also prestigious institutions and personalities know him for: With his own music, he is a popular guest conductor and soloist at the NDR-Bigband and the hr-Bigband; the Dresdner Staatskapelle, Gayle Tufts, Bodo Wartke, and many more demand his arrangement skills on a regular basis. Moreover, the saxophone player, who lives in Berlin by now, plays the lead alto saxophone in Marc Secaras Berlin Jazz Orchestra which is lead by Jiggs Whigham. His engagements brought him through all across of Europe, but also to South America, Asia, and Australia.
