MICHAEL WINTER is a composer whose work often explores simple processes where dynamic systems, situations, and settings are realized in a variety of ways, from performances to installations. Considerations of computability and epistemology are integral to his practice, and he often collaborates with other artists, mathematicians, and scientists in order to integrate objects, ideas, and texts from various domains as structural elements in his pieces (

Guitarist ELLIOT SIMPSON has given premieres of works by such iconic figures as Sofia Gubaidulina, Alvin Lucier, Michael Finnissy, Walter Zimmermann, and Larry Polansky and works closely with prominent young composers in the creation of new pieces. Recent recordings include guitars, streets, resonances (with James Moore), featuring duos by Larry Polansky and Teodora Stepančić and The Wayward Trail, featuring solo pieces for a just-intonation National Reso-Phonic tricone guitar developed by Lou Harrison in 2002. (

MARIANA CARVALHO is a sound artist, musician, and researcher. Themes that connect her work include body, voices, listening, eating, distance, relations, intimacy, gender, the inner, nylon, prepared piano, eutony, free improvisation, and installation. (

FREEMAN EDWARDS is a guitarist and composer of quiet, sparse pieces in concise forms. His pitch system combines equal temperament with an unrestricted microtonality, both for approximating the “purer” intervals of just intonation as well as highly dissonant, pulsating pitch relationships reminiscent of the timbral qualities of bells and other instruments with high degrees of inharmonicity.
